LIFE WITH PARKINSON'S
.

As Parkinson's progresses

Progression is usually very gradual.  For some it may take many years for the condition to develop, and for others it may take less time.  At the beginning, doctors prescribe oral medication.  With disease progression, other treatments become necessary such as apomorphine pen or pump, levodopa/carbidopa pump solution and surgical treatment.

The disease impacts not only your body but also your mind.  I decided, in fact you can say that I promised myself, that I will consistently take care of my cognitive problems.  To help me fight this battle I am involved with various activities, have a good social life, and regular work.  I read, write, listen to and play music, walk, hike, and in summer time I garden.  I never allow myself any kind of slothfulness for my body or my mind.
