A LIFE WITH PARKINSON'S IS A LIFE WHERE EVERY DAY IS challenging

According to the Global Declaration for Parkinson’s Disease ‘Moving & Shaping’ (2004), 6.3 million people have Parkinson’s worldwide, affecting all races and cultures. The age of onset is usually over 60 years, but it is estimated that one in 10 people are diagnosed before the age of 50, with slightly more men than women affected.

Parkinson's symptoms are different in everyone: they can vary from day-to-day, hour-to-hour, even minute-to-minute. Awareness needs to be raised about how the disease progresses, what medicinal side-effects are experienced and what it is really like. Decision makers and the general public need to understand the challenges of Parkinson's and its impact on daily life.

The European Parkinson's Disease Association (EPDA), through their Awareness campaign and supporting literature, provides hard facts and information on Parkinson's, including the cost of treatment and medication, when to begin treatment, and the different treatment strategies available.
